You Can’t Read it All From the Home Page

This is short and sweet.

If all you ever do is read the recent posts from the home page you are probably missing out on a lot of related content.

Get Ready For Menus in 3.0

There have been widgets around for some time that allow us to “tailor” our sidebars.   I’ve recently read about a few of these.

  • My Snippets
  • Dynamic Widgets
  • Simple Sidebar Navigation

These are just a few.   When 3.0 goes live we will have the additional functionality of building menus that even contain Outside site url links.   Those menus will be able to be called from a menu widget.

This means we can build menus for individual posts and pages.   They only show up on that page.

Right now this is true of many of my posts here.   I put additional content related to the post in the sidebar.

(Call it bonus material for those that come to the site and not just read the post in a reader)

I’m working on a symbol that I’ll put at the top of a post if there is additional content on the the post page itself.

Ironically, there won’t be any on this post.

  1. Dave, you are really tempting me to upgrade to 3.0!

BTW, I found your site through Google search and love all the WP info and the overall blog, in general!
