Thanks for the great and needed Wordpress blog article. I just set up a new WordPress blog at http://texasorganichome.com/ and am trying to learn the ins and outs of the complex but useful Wordpress and can use all the help I can get.

@Sharon - Sharon, There has been a spell checker built in since 2.5. Look for the button with ABC and a check mark under it. That is the spell checker. I don't use it. I use the one in Firefox instead. Dave

Hi, Does Wordpress 2.7 have built in spell checker or do I need to install a special plugin. I’ve read a few articles which mention that Wordpress 2.7 has a spell checker but I can’t seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

@Scott - Yes, I use twitter, but I'm not a twitterholic. It is a great way to keep plugged in to what is going on in your nitch. I also use it for SEO and a way to keep readers up to date on what is going on. It takes a while to build a community "tribe" of those you follow so you are in on both sides of conversations. I consider it another tool in the toolkit, but this one both give me access and provides access to me at the same time. You might want to see the post on using Twitter for fresh relevant content. Dave, a couple things. First, Wordpress 2.7 rules. I just updated mine as well. Not only is it better for guys like us, but its incredibly SEO friendly. Secondly, do you use Twitter? You are running 2.2 That is like driving a model T and complaining about having to advance the spark or get out and crank to get it started.

WP 2.7 is way beyond the limitations of 2.2 and you could moderate more than 20 comments for a long time. But if you have askimet in place you won’t usually find the need to moderate very many comments.

I hope they have found a way to moderate more than 20 comments at a time. My site has received so much spam that I can’t keep up with the moderation sometimes. The version of wordpress that I have only lets me moderate 20 posts at a time which is not effective. I can’t wait to try the new version

It only takes a minute or two to adjust to the left vertical column navigation.

Most of all, I like that at “Screen Options” I can check/uncheck which modules the dashboard displays. I unchecked “Recent Comments”, and what a relief! I no longer see all the spam comments for male performance pharmaceuticals that Askimet missed.

Much of the CMS is the same. It is oriented down the side as opposed to across the top, but the essential commands are the same. There are also more drop downs. I think for the most part it is easier to use.

Just my opinion.
