I’ve never been involved with podcasting either audio or video. I bought a flip video about four months ago and even turned it on a couple of times. I made a short video of my Dad in the hospital so my little sister could see he wasn’t going to die. He didn’t. After that it sat on a shelf with no idea what to do with it. About two weeks ago I gave it to my son so he could make videos of the kids.

I’ve never had an ipod and the only apple related items in my house are golden delicious. I don’t listen to the radio except for NPR. The whole idea of podcasting has been one of a kid growing up and throwing dried up bean pods in the furrow to be plowed under. There you have it, my entire limited understanding of podcasting.

Yesterday was interesting as I attended my first podcampaz. It is like trying to put together a puzzle without a picture and all the pieces are on the table but the lights are out in the room. Picking up pieces and feeling them in the dark with no idea what you are feeling and have no idea how it fits in the picture of PodCasting.

For me it is an hour and a half drive up to Phoenix from Tucson. Obligations in Tucson, dinner at Zinburger, has me commuting each day to PodCampAZ.

I was up and on the road this morning by 6 am. well before the sun was up. As I got to Toltec the first McDonalds appeared on the horizon and the sun was just about to peek over the mountain top.

The day is filled with promise and I hope at some point some of the lights come on and at least an idea of what the picture looks like will begin to form some image or shape in my mind.

Epcot NightI’ve taken the lab on the road this week.  I’ve tested the pdanet desktop connection for the Treo 650.  It worked but I hate the dark ages.  I’m strictly a THFB, Thank God For Broadband.  I posted this same image on our Tucson Real Estate In The News blog.  I took it this evening as we were leaving Epcot center.

I probably won’t have time to do much in the lab this week, but I’ll be checking in each day and have a couple of posts I’ll put up about the trip.

The post on Hittail is worth a read.  I put it up while many of you were celebrating the holiday’s last week and you might have missed it.  I can’t say enough about this great tool especially how it can be used for your Real Estate business.

I’ve got a whole series of posts I’ll be doing on Single Listing Blog sites.  How To set them up, what to put on them, and the advantages of having them.  We have a couple of listings under contract right now that resulted from the Single Listing Sites. That series of post will start as soon as I’m back in the Lab next week.

I’ll be checking in each day and hope to have time to put up a post or two this week as well.

I want to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to everyone in the RE Blogging Community.  I’m excited to see what 2007 will bring to RE Blogging and the topics we will cover in the Lab.  I’m sure it is going to be a lot of fun and hopefully we can all sell a little real estate along the way.  Here is to many happy buyers and sellers in this new year.

UPDATE:  This widget may be missing,  But here is a post you might want your readers to be aware of

Control Key Plus Scroll Equals BIGGER TEXT

I’m not going to say how old my eyes are, lets just say the more light in a room the better they like it. Here in the lab I’m trying out a widget I found today which allows readers to switch font size on the fly making a blogs font size a better fit for older eyes.

Here is the Accessibility Widget if you want to take it for a spin.

This widget is easy to install and configure.

For those new to this follow these directions. For those that don’t need them skip ahead.

The file name is accessibility.phps. After placing the file in the plug-in directory remove the “s” to make it accessibility.php.

Activate the Plug-in and go to the Sidebar Widget configuration screen under Presentation.

Place the widget where you want it to appear on the sidebar.
Open the configuration and change the title if you want.
You can also set the degrees of magnification.

It does have one annoying attribute. You can change the title and text sizes of the widget, but if you make any changes to the sidebar widget and save it will reset the title and text sizes back to the defaults.

If you know what you are doing you can use the plug-in editor to change the default title and text sizes to what you want so you don’t ever have to configure the widget.

You can set the size of the text back to the original display by reloading the page. Translated, click on the title of the blog. Your readers will need to reset the size if they change pages, or posts which is also a bit inconvenient, but it is still better than squinting at the screen.

Try it yourself, the widget is in the right sidebar, select any of the A’s under “Set Text Size”

Here in Tucson we have people that either here or thinking about moving here that I’m sure will appreciate the ability to change the size of the text making it easier for them to read.

Your readers just might appreicate this little widget themselves.
