My Custom Widget
This is what I call a sledge hammer of a plugin. It has everything including the kitchen sink. I don’t know where to find the kitchen sink, but I know it has to be there.
First, When you install this thing you are going to look at the options page (Under Settings) and if you are new to code you will pretty much freak out. Don’t, leave everything the way it is (if you don’ t know what to customize) and it will work fine.
To create a new Widget you will find under (Appearance) My Custom Widgets. Give your widget a name and click on the pencil. If it is PHP code you want to drop in the edit window then select PHP if HTML then HTML. I have found from using it that if your widget doesn’t work with one selected try the other one. I have one where there is PHP and HTML mixed together. The HTML setting worked the PHP did not.

Once you are happy with the widget you go to the Widget page again under (Appearance). The name you provided should appear in the available widget list to the left. Add it and place it where you want. in the list. Save and you are good to go.
You can open the widget for edits in the widget page. No need to go back to My Custom Widgets if you want to add a tweak or two.
My Custom Widget Perfect for Scenius Code
I started testing this plugin in the first place because the Fun with Widgets plugin wouldn’t work with the Thesis theme. So I went looking for another simple way to get Scenius code into a widget. What I ended up with was a better and simpler solution than using the Fun with Widgets Plugin.
I have been using the Widgetize Anything plugin as well for PHP code in a widget. I like the way My Custom Widget editor works and gives me a preview option.
I’ve replaced two plugins with one and I’m happy with the results.
There is a lot more to this plugin. Like I said there is a kitchen sink in there somewhere. You can do some amazing customization with this plugin. Try it out I think you will find some useful applications for it.
I’ve found it very handy to use for putting custom widget code generated from widget websites right into a new My Custom Widget and they work every time.

Good point! I think I will add a small note that appears when the user is visiting the options page the first time which will refer to the appearence menu. No need to scare anyone… ;o)

I noticed you didn’t tell us where the kitchen sink in located. Maybe in a future upgrade.

We’ve used a combination of Widgetize Anything and the Text widget to accomplish most anything. Both have been quirky at times.
We are resurrecting an old site and placing a WP blog on it. I’ll give My Custom Widget a shot. Thanks for sharing this Dave.
